XICO® started as a mission driven company focused on performance, sustainability, and human-centric design. We believe that lighting has the opportunity to make a difference, especially when focused around sustainability and human health. Buildings are made for people, to live and work, but the ability for architects and designers to make sure the products they are choosing won’t harm their occupants has only recently come to the forefront. We want to deliver insight and transparency into our products so that design teams have the resources to make sure their designs are doing good for their occupants and the environment.
We can measure energy use and fine-tune how the building and spaces operate, but now, with more sensors and data, we can fine-tune the lighting in ways that make people more productive, more alert, increase test scores for students, or drive sales. We can measure and fine-tune the operations of our buildings. From a design perspective much of sustainability can be boiled down to operational efficiency, energy use and cost factors, for a manufacturer how we build our products is just as much a part of that sustainability story. For XICO® it’s not just about the type of products we make, long lifespan, repairable, energy efficiency built in, but its also how we make it. LEDs changed how a lot of people viewed lighting, but they have now plateaued a lot of innovation. We see the opportunity to push efficiency further, to tackle manufacturing and lifespan.
Our designs are simple, modern, and elegant to stand the test of time. They use as few parts as possible to minimize material use. We also are working with our suppliers and making design decisions based on sourcing, availability, and shipping. Our products are designed, engineered, and manufactured in Massachusetts USA. We source the raw materials from suppliers in North America and continuously optimize our manufacturing process to bring more in-house leading to hire reliability, flexibility, and partnerships.
